The plug that has to match
A charger is only the right charger if the plug fits. This is the three pin threaded connector the VM 1 uses. It seats with a quarter turn and locks, so it does not fall out of the port when the scooter is nudged in a hallway.
You can see when it is done
A single status light on the housing. Charging on one color, finished on the other, from across the room. No guessing, no leaving it on all night because you could not tell.
Straight into the deck port
No adapters and no splitters. The cable reaches the charge port on the deck and locks in place, which is how it is meant to work and how the battery management system expects to be spoken to.
Both cables in the box
The AC lead and the output cable, coiled and tidy. Nothing else to buy, nothing to hunt for in a drawer.

The VM 1 electrical system is UL2272 certified, and that certification covers charging as well as the battery and controller. UL2272 is the standard written specifically for personal electric mobility devices, and it tests the whole system rather than one component in isolation.
It is also the reason a cheap third-party charger is a poor trade. An off-brand unit at the wrong voltage, or without a proper cutoff, can overheat a pack and shorten its life, and will usually void your warranty. On a battery worth many times the price of this charger, that is not a saving.
